Global yearbook on organic trends, markets and policy

Ongoing since 2020 (annual publication; Czech Organics co-authorship every year)

The Challenge

Policy makers, market actors, and practitioners need trusted, comparable global data to understand where organic is growing, what drives it, and what holds it back. Without a solid evidence base, it’s harder to design effective policies, communicate progress credibly, and target investments where they deliver the most impact.

What We Did

Czech Organics (Jan Trávníček) has been a co-author and editor of The World of Organic Agriculture every year since 2020, supporting the coordination of contributions and data processing.

Published by FiBL and IFOAM – Organics International, the yearbook brings together contributions from key representatives of the global organic sector and provides a practical overview of farmland, markets, imports, regulations, and policy measures, plus regional trend chapters (Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America, Oceania) and selected country profiles.Beyond the report itself, the work links to accessible data outputs—supporting stakeholders who need both the narrative context and the underlying statistics.

Outcomes & Impact

The yearbook is a widely used global reference for strategies, policy briefs, research, and market reporting—helping stakeholders align around a shared evidence base for how organic is developing worldwide. It is also highly cited in academic and sector literature, reflecting its role as a trusted baseline for organic statistics and trend analysis.
